My amazing wife, Marissa Rose, has been invited to the Yale University Writer's Conference. This is a fantastic honor, as only 125 people are selected to attend the conference, with only ten writers per workshop.
Marissa has applied for the June workshop, and received her acceptance letter. The only problem? The window to come up with payment isn't quite as long as we'd thought - the cost of attending is $1,100, and we only have two weeks to raise that money. We live a comfortable Midwestern life, but we certainly don't have $1,100 laying around to do as we please.
That said, I can't just let this story end here. Writing has been Marissa's dream for longer than I have known her, and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I hate to turn to crowdfunding for something like this, as I don't want to seem like somebody begging for money, but I simply can't let this opportunity pass by without at least trying. So I'm turning to GoFundMe in the hope that we can raise even a part of the attendance fee. We'll never know unless we try.
