Dear Community Supporters and Friends,
The Desert United Soccer Club Girls 99 soccer team is a diverse group of 14- and 15-year-old Coachella Valley student athletes. We are fortunate to compete at the top levels of club soccer in Southern California while also helping out our community and maintaining a team average GPA of 4.5.
We have the exciting opportunity to travel to Vancouver, Canada to attend a U.S. Women’s National Team World Cup match against Nigeria June 15-19. We’re also invited to play soccer there with two Canadian girls’ soccer teams.
The trip is an opportunity to support the amazing work of the U.S. Women’s National Team, and to continue to fuel our personal goals of becoming strong, well-rounded, healthy women. Many of us have played together since we were 9 and 10 years old. We are passionate teammates, sisters, best friends, rivals and confidants. Many of us have set the goal of playing soccer at the collegiate level, and as freshmen and sophomores in high school we are on the brink of realizing that dream. This trip to Canada is a valuable step in that direction.
In order to make this trip, we need to rely on community support. Our goal of $30,000 is daunting, but the amount will ensure that our 15-member team - as well as our two coaches and a team mom - can participate in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
