My First Home
Donation protected
Hi ya. My name is Karen. I was born and raised in a little town called College Park in Orlando, Florida. I am very close to my parents and they still live in the home I grew up in. In September of last year, after renting a house one street over from them for 6 years, I was told by my landlord that I had to move out because he wanted to move back in to the house. I was completely devastated and so were my parents, especially my Mom. We used to stand outside and wave good night to each other. It was so wonderful. Because I didn't have much notice and needed to move out quickly, I had to empty my 401K and my savings so I could afford the move (and now I owe the IRS $506). I work full time and have applied for several part time jobs but haven't been offered one yet.
The whole point of this fundraiser is to help raise money for a downpayment for my first home. MY HOME. One that is close to my Mom and Dad and in a safe neighborhood. I'm not looking for anything big and fancy, after all it's just me and my 3 rescue cats (Piper, Daisy and Layla). All I need is a screened in front porch and a yard for me to sit in and for them to play in. I'm simply looking for a place where no one will ever be able to tell me I have to leave because it will be mine, and if the day ever comes that someone (or an animal) needs a happy, loving place to stay, I can provide that for them without having to ask anyone's permission.
I can't thank you enough for taking the time to read my story and for helping me achieve my dream.
