PLEASE HELP THE UCONN MEN'S CREW PAIR RACE THIS SEMESTER!
After running the numbers multiple times, we have come to the conclusion that we are going to be unable to race one of our most competitive boats, the varsity pair, this season. A pair is a two person rowing shell that requires a great deal of skill to master compared to larger boats and is a valuable tool for any team. Although last season the pair was only intended to be a training tool, it was entered into two races, and medaled in both. At this point it is looking bleak that we will get the chance to race it. We are a 100% student run organization, which has come a long way in the recent years. We are a club sport and run on a very tight budget therefore we look to rent boats as we cannot afford to buy them often. The pair was planning to compete in some of the biggest races in the country such as the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia and the American Collegiate Rowing Association National Championships in Gainesville, Georgia to show how far our team has come in recent years and to represent Connecticut at these regattas . As a team we are hoping to raise $2000 in order to rent a pair and pay for race entries for this boat to exist this season. Any donation is welcome and will greatly help in allowing us to race it semester.
