End Their Abuse

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to read this page.
This is a long shot cry for help from an embattled family. Because this is an active court case involving minors, names and details must be withheld.

Earlier this year, R. left her husband after years of physical and emotional abuse. She stayed in this relationship on behalf of her two young sons, whom she was working to support. During this time, she was the sole provider for the household. Eventually, her husand found work again, and she stayed in the hopes that his behavior would improve with gainful employment.

She finally left her husband when she discovered that he had been physically attacking and abusing the boys without her knowledge while she was away at work, and had continued the abuse after becoming employed.

It took many thousands of dollars and several months in a battered women's shelter, but she finally managed to establish an injunction and receive a protective custody order.

The boys have been receiving counseling and therapy, and have refused to visit with their father. Neither child is old enough to request a specific parent receive custody, but both have expressed their desires to stay with their mother. Having been required to testify to their father's abuse, neither wishes to be left alone with him again.

Unfortunately, their father initiated legal proceedings against R. in a neighboring county, which she was forced to pay to fight. On top of this, he filed for and was granted an appeal of the injunction and custody order.

Without access to further funds to continue this fight, R. will be unable to contest the appeal. The injunction and the custody order can and very likely will be reversed. She has sold everything from heirlooms to handicrafts in order to fight this battle, but there is no more money.
Please, please help me keep these people out of the hands of this brutal man.  I understand that money is tight this time of year, but there was no other way.
While using the financial burden of the court system is a well-documented tactic for continuining abuse after separation, none of the Womens' Advocacy groups in their state offers pro bono legal aid or funding for this type of litigation.

If you can't help financially, please support this family by sharing the link. News of the final decision will be shared when it is received.

Thank you again for your time.
