Galion Community Chorus Messiah '17

Donation protected
Annually, the Galion Community Chorus presents a prestigious rendition of G.F. Handel's "Messiah" on the first Sunday afternoon in December. The chorus is complimented in its presentation by a complete orchestra and their own harpsichord, in addition to professional soloists.

Messiah was first performed in Galion, Ohio, sporadically from the 1890's to the 1930's.  A Galion tradition began in 1955, when Mr. Herbert Krichbaum, a new choral director for Galion High School was challenged to present a Christmas season Performance of the Messiah. This tradition has continued for over 60 years with various directors since the 30 years of Mr. Krichbaum's tenure.  The current director is John Sikora, Ashland.

Mr. Sikora brings a rich vibrancy to the intrepretation of the production which is currently held at the First United Church of Christ, 248 Harding Way West, Galion.  It has been said there is no better performance of this magnificent work anywhere in the area.
Chorus members hail from a multi-county area surrounding Galion. Professional soloists and orchestra members hale from across the state of Ohio and beyond.

It is the hope of the current Messiah Board that this event will continue for years to come. Funding for its continuance, however, has become problematic.  Expenses continue to rise for soloists and orchestra.  Galion is a small community.  Local supporters and advertisers are helping with basic funding.  In order to maintain our current level of professional musicians we need to increase donations to this worthwhile cause.

A $500 Scholarship is given to youth who participate in the rehearsals and presentation of Messiah.  This endeavor encourages high school youth to both experience the thrill of singing the Messiah, and being rewarded for doing so. And, it allows them to experience top-notch direction, and sing with a orchestra and professional soloists.

In order to make this exquisite, treasured, community event viable in the future, we need the public's help to continue our programming and funding needs. We are a non-profit community organization that relys solely on community funding.

We thank you for any donation, large or small that you are able to make to help defray expenses for this magnificient, classical  work, Handel's Messiah.  With your help we can continue to teach and share this high quality performance with new generations.

All donations  will be listed in the program. With the following designations, $500 - Patron, $250 - Benefactor, $100 - Sponsor, $50 -Supporter, $25 -Friend, Other donations are with name only.

PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TO THIS WORTHY CAUSE.
