"TRUE LOVE IS A HEART THAT GIVES"

Hi everyone, 

This is a fundraising page for Sofia Ahrendt (15), to support her and her family through this difficult time.

Sofia is about to go into Year 11 and really loves school. She is an all-round excellent student and especially excels in Science. She is a quiet, gentle girl who loves animals. She started to feel unwell with severe back pains a few months ago. By the time a diagnosis was reached this aggressive cancer (Hodgkin’s lymphoma)had spread to many organs – spleen, liver, throat, stomach, spine. It has obviously been a devastating shock for her family and everyone who knows her. Since then she has been through so much. She has had surgery to remove a tumour and  is currently enduring intensive chemotherapy that will continue over the coming months.

Sofia is in a great deal of pain and has lost a lot of weight because it is so painful to eat or drink and to keep the food down. Despite this, she never complains and is trying her best to keep positive.  Your supportive comments have meant so much to Sofia and her family, who are both very moved and grateful for your generosity. The money raised will take the pressure off her mum, Wanda, so that she can pay bills and buy the things Sofia needs without having to worry. She has had to give up her job as she cares for Sofia on her own. Fortunately, Hodgkin’s lymphoma responds well to treatment, especially in young people. So with your prayers and support all of us who know and love Sofia hope these dark months can quickly be over and Sofia can begin her journey back to good health.  

£5 doesn't buy much you much these days. However it can give hope, comfort, community, kindness and love. In times of desperation, these are the only things that get people through the hardships. It is a materialistic offering but is giving so much to the Ahrendt family. The donation, no matter how small will go a long way and will add up if we all join in.
