My name is Amy Austin, and I'm 17 years old.
I've had crooked teeth and a crowded mouth ever since I can remember (the trampoline accident when I was four probably didn't help either) and I've wanted braces for years. My mum promised me and promised me we'd get them done, and she never did. She still can't afford them. But I got put on the government waiting list anyway about 2 years ago (it's cheaper, but you have to wait longer) and the other day I got a letter in the mail saying it's time for my treatment. It's going to cost me $1079. I'm excited! But it's not going to be easy to get the money.. I live with my grandparents and my mum is currently working two jobs to support herself, and she's still broke. Not to mention I've been suffering from depression for a while now, and my self esteem is rock bottom. My teeth don't help.
