This August, by the Grace of God, we will to travel to Egypt and begin our study of Arabic and Islam. To make this a reality WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT :)
Our Mission
Islam is the fastest growing religion in the United States and Muslim communities around the country are without enough spiritual leadership. In the past, the trend has been to import Imams (religious community leaders) from overseas and rely on scholarship that was developed for a different context. By studying at Al Diwan and Al Azhar and bringing the knowledge back with us we wish to commit our lives to being a part of the solution and empowering the American Muslim Community. We will be taking up the path paved by scholars before us, such as Suhaib Webb, Muslima Purmul and Jamal Diwan.(Scroll down to see more details)

Our Expenses
1. Tickets

2. Al-Diwan Arabic Intensive Program
$3420 each (price subject to change based on our bargaining skills lol)
3. Registration/Certification Fees

4. Textbooks
$95 each
5. Rent
$300-$500 (TBD based upon availability and location)
6. Living Expenses
$250-$300 (Dependent upon fluctuations in the market)
7. Transportation Fares

Your Contribution
The estimated total cost for our first year in Egypt will be about $15,000!! Although this may seem like a large amount, we are confident because we know that God is our Provider and because we know that He has gifted us with such a generous circle of friends and family.
Over the past months we have been saving as much as possible, but it alone will not be enough. We hope to both get jobs some months after arrival and this should definitely help. Our determination to make this project a reality is stronger than ever and so we are reaching out to all of you. Simply put: we need your contribution! It doesn't matter if you give $5 or $500. Every dollar goes a long way and what truly matters to us is that you chose to be a part of this mission. Every contribution (big or small) is beautiful in the eyes of Allah.
Our Timeline
Al-Diwan
For the first 9 months, we will be studying to master classical Arabic. This should enable us to further our Islamic Studies, insha'Allah.
Al-Azhar
Then we will pursue our Islamic studies at Al-Azhar University for 4 years. During this time we will be making trips back to the United States to serve the community (giving khutba, writing articles and opinion pieces, speaking at events, developing curriculum for education programs, etc.)
Al-Azhar (continued)
If the opportunity presents itself and our funds are sufficient, we may continue at Al-Azhar for the second part of the program for another 3 years.
