Journey to Greece
I hope
you guys are doing well, and that you are having an amazing 2012. Lately I have
been trying to figure out what God's plan is for me. I know I want to be a
nurse, but lately I have been feeling a tug for going overseas. It's something
that makes me want to jump for joy, but scares me at the same time. So this
summer I decided to take a step out of my comfort zone. I have decided to sign
up for a mission trip to Greece. I had been feeling a pull all year long, the
thought of Greece, but not because the "vacation spots" but wanting to know the
people, the culture, the events happening there.
I
waited for months, trying hard to be patient and wondering if this was the
right thing. Good thing I didn't go about it my own way, because the next day
the Lord had answered my prayer. I would be going on Greece on July 23 to August
3. I feel very privileged to be even going on this mission trip!
I bet
you are wondering what exactly we will be doing there, and I would love to tell
you. J I will try my very best for you to totally
understand what we will be doing here. The majority of the time spent in Athens
we will be working in refugee camps talking with many different people. We are
expecting most to be Muslim. These people are from the 10/40 window. (This is
the area that have never heard or accepted the gospel. It is the eastern
hemisphere located between 10 to 40 degrees north of the equator.) Our goal
while talking to the people is to look for those who are willing to hear what
we have to say, those who are curious and want to know more about who God is. We
are looking for the "Men of Peace" (Luke 10) we have began praying for God to
begin to open their hearts and minds and that the soil would be softened to
talk with them! (Something that you could be praying for too) The other half of
the time will be spend doing street ministry. We will be split into two's or
three's and just going out and talking to people.
The trip
will definitely be challenging but it will be an amazing experience. I cannot
wait to be put out of my comfort zone and start sharing the love of Jesus
Christ with others. But that's what we are called to do, Therefore go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19. I am not saying that I can't do that here at home, but
when these refugees go back to their country those who have heard the Gospel
will then be able to share God's word with those who have never heard of
Christ.
The only thing I ask of you is just to be a
part of the group, either by donating or just praying for us before and while
we are there. The trip is very costly but even the smallest amount will help!
Thank you so much for reading this and taking time out of your day to see what
is going on in my life!
I cannot wait to see what God has in store,
and I know that there will be huge things happening. I will be journaling each
day, and will blog about it when I come back so you will be able to see the
things that happened. I am so excited to be going on a mission for my Father in
Heaven and I hope that you are willing to be a part of it!
You can donate on line or you can send a
check back to me in the mail. Some prayer requests would be: That all the
logistics would be taken care of and we would get there safely, that we would
be able to share our faith and not fear rejection, and that other's hearts and
minds will be open to what we will be sharing. Thank you so much in advance for
your time, prayer, and financial support!!!
In His name,
Lauren
