Grovestock Ministries was originally conceived in the wee hours of many one, two, and three o’clock morning times, when I couldn’t sleep after the tragic loss of my oldest daughter, Kendall. God was working in my heart to show that there was a way to keep Kendall alive to minister to others about JESUS. This small but beautiful thing that started to happen through such a tragic and seeming wasteful event in our hearts and lives got off the ground April the 28th of 2012. Over 350 people enjoyed beautiful Christian Music, delicious food, over 30 booths to shop for hand-made arts and crafts items, kite flying, Frisbee throwing, Tie-dying of Grovestock t-shirts, and above all, fellowship in the presence of the Lord JESUS. We had three people openly accept Christ that day, and many more that re-kindled their relationship with Christ, all because of a seemingly useless tragedy.
On the 2nd day of July, 2012, our family, church, and community suffered another equally horrific event as our youngest daughter, Callie, was taken from us in a motorcycle accident. This devastating tragedy made crystal clear just how unsure and quick this earthly life really is! The only constant through all the joy and sorrow we have is the guarantee that Christ loves us no matter what, and He has made an incredible place for us when we leave this life. So, another series of being awakened in the middle of the night by what I now know was the hand of God began. He showed me by losing two of my five beautiful children that Grovestock Ministry is more than just about my pain, my suffering, my loss, my need to uplift and celebrate Kendall and Callie’s lives, their beautiful smiles, their warm and loving gifts to each person that had the privilege to meet them in this life.
Grovestock Ministries is reaching out to all parents who have lost a child. I am sure without a doubt that God felt the unnatural pain a parent feels when a child is taken. We only get a small glimpse of what it must have been like to send a child to die just as God did with our Savior JESUS. We only know the pain of having one die. Don’t stop reading-because we can go on and eventually find joy and peace.
Grovestock is a Celebration, a Party!! A fantastic awareness of the awesome playground that our children are experiencing with the possible vision of JESUS sitting on a bench under a tree smiling at how much fun they are having.
