Kickin' it with Candace

Our crusader, Candace Castillo, is our friend, a wife and a mother who was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in June 2014. Shortly thereafter she underwent a double mastectomy and began her first of many aggressive chemotherapy treatments.  As most of you all know, Candace is an optimistic, caring individual who is always laughing and smiling. That smile carried Candace through 16 rounds of chemotherapy.

During this time, her condition continued to deteriorate and she began to work less and less and eventually couldn’t work at all.  The weight of the bills and expenses kept growing, though her supportive husband, Jason, tried to keep up and bear the financial burden alone.   He has been by his wife’s side through all treatments, acting as her driver, her caregiver, her lifeline to everything outside their home.  He has been her rock.   

Our friend needs your help in supporting her through this tough battle. Although she has completed chemo, Candace will now endure 6 weeks of radiation beginning February  and unfortunately we just found out that Candace’s’ doctors have found something on her brain and will have a PET scan this week.
She demonstrates courage and strength to everyone she knows. Our friend has endured a tough 7 months since she found out she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Jason also took time away from his career to be with his best friend and partner, and pushed the financial needs to the side. The Castillo family has never asked for anything other than warm thoughts and prayers. Her work family and friends wanted to do more.

This is not a sad story; this is a story of courage – of the determination to fight. No donation is too small or too big.
