NW CT Junior Dress For Success

Hello my name is Sylvia Labbe and I'm helping to raise funds to buy undergarments for underprivileged children in the Northwest Connecticut corner.
The seed for the Junior Dress For Success event started 10 years ago on a cold February morning when a parent, Mindy Hobson, was driving to work and noticed three children waiting at a bus stop and only one of them had a coat. When she inquired with the neighbors, they said that the children's family was highly in need and they only owned one coat for all three children and they had to take turns wearing it each day.
It was from that day forward that she declared that she would do everything she could to help make sure that no child would have to go without the proper clothes that they deserve.
The project grew as she organized many other volunteers, sharing her reason to help and took donations and gently worn clothing for this event. Now, over 300 people are served every year and are able to fill two bags with as much clothing that they need.
This event was highly successful, however soon it became apparent that the first thing to go were the new undergarments, which only some were able to attain.
I have volunteered at this event since I was 5 years old, doing everything in my power to help others in need and this cause is very important to me. This is why when my school, Northwestern Regional 7, gave the opportunity to apply for a grant, called "Kindness In Motion" that helps fund projects that will spread kindness, I knew exactly what I was going to do: raise money to purchase new undergarments so no child will have to go without them.
It would be highly appreciated if you could make a donation to go fund the Junior Dress For Success Project. The clothing will be distributed on August 12th at the Torrington Armory (25 Coe Place, Torrington, Connecticut) from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.
Any amount can make a world of change.
