About the play

“Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more.”

Your world and your climate are struggling under the weight of humanity, but your leader is a tyrant, blind to the forces of nature working against him. The power is there for you to take, but it is not yours by right. And yet, you seem to be the only person in the position to take action. What do you do?

Following their critically acclaimed productions of ‘The Wasp’ by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm and ‘The Jailer’s Daughter’ by Esther Joy Mackay (“a masterstroke of contemporary theatre” ★★★★★ The Upcoming), The UnDisposables return with their first production since becoming an Associate Company of the Space Theatre.

Their politically charged production of ‘Julius Caesar’ marches into the Space in East London from 10 – 21 March 2020. Drawing parallels with the modern day issue of climate change, it delves into the moral ambiguity within Shakespeare’s classic text, questioning who has the right to power, and by what means can or should power be achieved?

Why we need your help

Female-led theatre collective, The UnDisposables, burst onto the scene in March 2018 and since then have been providing creative opportunities for over 100 emerging artists through our sell-out series of scratch nights, brand-new commissions and full-scale productions.

We are a young company with big ambitions, but we need your help to realise them. Unlike a lot of the bigger theatre companies, The UnDisposables does not yet receive any subsidy from the Arts Council  (despite our very best efforts!) and is heavily dependent on both Box Office sales and the generosity of individual donors and corporate sponsors to help us fund our work.

By donating to our campaign for ‘Julius Caesar’, your money will be put towards a number of key production costs, including personnel, marketing, the physical set, props and costumes, and the research and development of new work.
