Miss Washington USA 2016 Pageant

So you must be wondering-- Why Julianne? Why do you want to be Miss Washington, USA? Well the opportunity to meet new people, have fun, and try something new are obviously on the list, but my real reason, what's pushing me to finally take the plunge out of my comfort zone, is my strong desire to share my story (so far) and hopefully relate with the young women and men out there who have gone through the same struggles. I want to be their support and the role model they may not have and can look up to. I want to show others that you can use your struggles and losses and use it as fuel to your fire. Through this I want to inspire others and motivate them to be the best they can be regardless of what society or others have to say. 

The title aside, I think that this pageant is a phenomenal opportunity to have my voice heard and make a difference; I want to enhance my volunteering, networking, and represent Washington as a whole. In a world where young girls, too often, are bombarded with negative and unattainable images and stories of what a young woman should be, should want, or should do, I want to be a role model of positive body image, true confidence, inner beauty, tenacity, and determination. I want to be someone worth looking up to. This pageant will allow me to do that through its platform and visibility.
