Wood Thrush Ridge Cons. Easement

Hello hopeful campaign donors! My name is Devon McKnight. I have lived on the beautiful piece of property  called Wood Thrush Ridge with my mother and brother for 10 years now. Recently, because of financial reasons,  we have all accepted the fact that within the next three years, we will no longer be able to have the honor to live here anymore. We live in Greenback, Tennessee, and the property we currently live on is a hilly terrain that is connected to the Appalachian Mountain range, very close to the Smokies. Knowing that my mother will be completely devastated to lose this land, I have thought of a way to ease the pain, a Conservation Easement by the Foothills Land Conservancy. Wood Thrush Ridge is home to over 100 species of birds, one of them being the Wood Thrush, a neotropical migrant whose population has been on the decline for the last 50 years. This is so because their habitat, like that on Wood Thrush Ridge, is being logged and destroyed for urban populations. My mother has hoped to protect this land simply by living on it as long as she could, and she has. Several times have logging companies come to our door step asking to pay us to deforest the entire plot of land, and we quickly refused the offer. Wood Thrush Ridge is the only place in Greenback where an animal can come without the fear of hunting or land destruction, and it would be our dream if that were the case even after we no longer live on it. I have created the video attached to this campaign page in hopes of presenting to you the beauty and tranquility this land offers, also on behalf of our beloved Wood Thrush!  A conservation easement will cost $10,000. With your help, the Wood Thrush, the forest, and all the other myriad of animals will be able to call the 40 acre plot of land their safe home, forever.
