For the Love of JOY KNIPPEL (SCOTT)

THIS IS MY STORY....

On May 1st 2013 my life was drastically changed as I knew it, I had gone to my Primary Care Physician with abdomen pain. This was quickly diagnosed as a "massive spleen", in which prompted a test for mono. The mono test came back positive, and I was told to take it easy and rest for the next 2 weeks, and if there was no improvement to return for further testing. Afer 1 week, I felt my abdomen/spleen had become even more pronounced and was more sensitive. I decided to schedule another appointment, however, this time with a different doctor. He immediately order a Complete Blood Count (CBC). I left the clinic and went on with my day.

The next morning I received a call from the doctor office telling me they scheduled me an appointment with a Hematologist and to be there at 5:00pm. This appointment didn't scare me, because I had no idea what a "Hematologist" was, except that they dealt with blood, so I went alone. I pulled up to the clinic and imediately saw that the writing on the building said "ONCOLOGY/HEMATOLOGY". I was still thinking, I must be just going to get some "specialized" blood tests done..Not once had cancer crossed my mind.

I went in, sat down, and was soon called back to the room. The doctor came in, and she introduced herself, asked if I knew why I was there. I responded with, no, not really. She immediately said these next few sentences very bluntly.

"Your white blood cell count is 285,000, and the normal range is between 5,000-11,000. YOU HAVE LEUKEMIA".

At this point I was crying, my mind was spinning, I had absolutley no one there to console me. I was literally thinking how the heck is this happening.

She immediately went in to telling me how this is the "best cancer" to have if you are going to have cancer and that my quality of life should be normal, yadda yadda yadda... I thought to myself, how the hell can you sit here and tell me that, after what you just dumped on me, letting me come here alone, and take this news like it's nothing but another fricken day at the office!!!

So, I was demanded to immediatly go to the hospital and be admitted for treatment. I was in the hospital for 5 nights, 6 days. A catheter was placed in my neck for them to remove my white blood cells and get them in a normal range.

I will now skip over some of it to get to why I am writing this in the first place.
I have failed all treatment options that manage my disease up to this point.

Thursday, February 26th 2015 I was admitted to the hospital for a Bone Marrow Transplant. I will be in the hospital for 3-4 weeks and out of work for 6,9,12 months.

I will have no income for 3 months +, and there will numerous monetary needs once I get realeased from the hospital in order to keep our house and myself from harboring any germs, viruses & bacteria so that I can recover in a timely manner.

Please give what you can, whether it's a prayer or a monetary gift. Everything is much appreciated.

God Bless!
