Jonathan McSalley - #TEAMSOGB

Tax deductible
Jonathan is 25 years old and lives in Coatbridge, Scotland. He was born with developmental and growth delays. Despite these obstacles, Jonathan started figure skating with Special Olympics Scotland West two and a half years ago. He has met a great many friends through training and competition. One of his favourite things to do, as well as winning medals, is making everybody smile.

Such is his growing confidence that he volunteered at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014, showing athletes around the Village and looking after them.

Jonathan has been selected to represent Great Britain in the Figure Skating competition at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria in 2017, one of the biggest events in the Special Olympic global calendar which will attract over 3,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities from over 110 countries.

Jonathan is proud and excited about going to Austria and being part of the GBTeam. He is ready to do his best and as many medals as he can!

For the athletes, going to the Games is not only about participating in their chosen sport: it’s about meeting athletes from around the world, making new friends, having fun, daring, improving their health and challenging preconceptions about people who have an intellectual disability.

Please give what you can to help Jonathan on his way to Austria as he is working hard in order to be the best he can in 2017 and to do his country proud.
