Jennie's Kidney Quest!

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Jennie Prentice. I am 22 years old and graduated from Streetsboro High School in 2010. I play the flute in my church band, and have loved music all my life. On April 29, 2014, I was admitted to Hillcrest Hospital for severe anemia and low kidney function. My hemoglobin level was at a 3 (Should be 11.5-13), and I needed 4 blood transfusions.

After a lot of blood testing, 2 kidney biopsies and many other tests, I was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease. We are not sure what caused my kidneys to fail, but it cannot be corrected. I now needed dialysis, and eventually a transplant.

After coming home from the hospital, I started my Peritonal Dialysis at home. Peritoneal Dialysis is not what you think! It is done while I sleep, and it lets me have a more normal life. I am now doing and feeling much better every day! I even plan to go back to work soon!

As you can imagine, my medical bills are catching up with me. These bills will continue to grow due to being on dialysis, and having so many meds. After my transplant, I will not need dialysis, but the meds that keep my new kidney working are very expensive and not always covered by insurance.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my page! Please continue to pray for my family and I as we go through this difficult time. God is providing for me, and will continue to provide what I need. I am truly blessed. =)
