Losing Lisa Benitez - inconceivable. Lisa passed away this morning, December 27th, too soon after a brief and unexpected illness. She was surrounded by her family, and buoyed by the love we all have for her.
If you knew her, it is no doubt because she helped you. She organized your party, she connected you to just the right new friend, she taught you that you really did love Houston Texans football, and she was the first friendly face you saw in a room.
She touched so many lives that we cannot even imagine how to fill the gaping hole she's left in our hearts.
Here's one way we can try.
We're raising money to help her family with her medical and funeral expenses, and to set up a fund to take care of the devoted and dapper Elliott Picone Benitez, her darling dog.
Friends, Lisa lived big and gave bigger, so we need to return the favor.
Dig deep and help us reach this goal. Help make sure her family can focus on grieving her death and celebrating her life rather than worrying about bills.
Her funeral will be on her birthday, Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1111 St. Joseph Parkway in downtown Houston. And this is for Lisa, y'all, so you better dress for it.
