Jaycee Wilkins is a dancer. She is actually one of the countries best dancers, a kind person inside and out and the best friend a girl could want. She is one of the only people I know that always speaks the truth and seems to take life in stride. She is an inspiration to dancers all over the country and has accomplished more in her 13 years than people do in a lifetime. She always says... If your dreams don't scare you, they are not big enough!
In July, Jaycee and my dream came true and we won Junior Best Dancer at the Dance Awards together. We were supposed to start touring together last weekend... But one week ago, Jaycee's life dramatically changed. J was diagnosed with Perthes Disease in her left hip. This happens when all the blood flow to the femoral head gets cut off and the head of the femur starts to die. Her mom and dad promised her they would do whatever it takes! If you know Ms. Kelli, you know that she can get things done and make anything happen.... and she did! They flew to FL and took her to see the countries best doctors, Dr. Feldman at The Paley Institute. She will have her first surgery next week. It will be a long year for her with at least 2 surgeries and no dancing... I can't even imagine how she is feeling and I want to do anything to help her get the best treatment ever, so that we can see her dance again!
Once again, Jaycee is taking this like a true champion, her strength is amazing. Please help the Wilkin's family overcome this obstacle and donate to help them cover the 2 surgeries, flights across the country, hotel bills and recovery costs. We love you J and I know I am speaking on behalf of dancers and teachers across Canada and the US. We will stand by you while you fight this disease and we will pray for you to heal quickly so we can all dance with you again.
