Last year I posted this story about my mom, her battle with breast cancer and her struggle to get the care she needs. I'm so proud of her for the fight she's put up and the agony she's dealt with. I couldn't be happier to announce that as of recently she was told she is cancer free...But there is just as dark of a battle ahead of her.
And she can not fight it alone.

Last month she started having stomach pains and knew something was not right. After going to the hospital and having numerous tests done they found that she has some sort of blockage and build-up on her uterus wall. Now she needs surgery and multiple biopsies done just to find out if there are any cancer cells...

Here's where this story gets worse.

The cancer clinic she has been going to for 2 and a half years now is one of many clinics around Tucson, AZ. Each clinic works specifically with a hospital. The hospital my mom's clinic works with just happen to be recently bought out by a large corporation. When she wen't in to have the surgery done the hospital told her she needed to pay a $900+ co-pay at the time of the appointment or they would not treat her.
How does this happen?? How can a cancer patient be turned away?!?

THIS IS AMERICA, WHERE THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT GET TO DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT OUR SICK ONES LIVE OR DIE……...BUT CORPORATIONS DO???
THERE IS SOMETHING VERY WRONG HERE AND IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED!!!!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!
If you can help financially every bit counts. If not you can help by just sharing this story in hopes that it will get to the right people. No one should have to go through this and if enough people catch on to what is happening maybe we can shed some light on this horrible truth and maybe make a difference. Thank you all who are taking the time to read this. And to all who are going through a similar nightmare, you are not alone.

ORIGINAL POST FROM 10/2/2014
My mother was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer a little over a year and a half now. When she was first diagnosed I remember her telling me she was very afraid of what was to come. But the one thing that my mother has that no illness could ever take away from her is faith. That and possibly the most important thing my mother has taught me…"Never give up". The world we live in, the people we love, the memories we have (good and bad) and the future we create. It's all worth it.
Over the past year and a half she's undergone multiple surgeries, intensive radiation, at some points more than twice a day and been on all different types chemotherapy. She was diagnosed with a type of hormonal cancer along the way and at one point she told me she was considering letting go and stopping the treatment so she could just live her life. But again she put her dukes up and looked past her fears and is still fighting today.
She just had another surgery last night and is doing alright today but she's in a good amount of pain.
Last month Medicaid and Medicare were covering the bills, which Medicare was paying 80% and Medicaid was covering the rest. Medicaid told her she hit her max coverage and would no longer be covered, leaving her to pay 20% for specialists and hefty co-pays that she can't afford. Now she has 4-6 appointments a month with different specialists and they've told her she has to pay the co-pays the day of the appointments leaving her fresh out of surgery and having to cancel numerous appointments for treatment she desperately needs. It really breaks my heart knowing that this is how breast cancer patients are being treated during a month dedicated to so much awareness and charity. And I know she's not the only one in this situation.
Right now we are waiting to hear back from a congresswoman hoping she will be able to help in some way. The church she attends has offered to pay for the month of October but she has a long road ahead of her in terms of recovery. She has an interview with a local radio station to share her story in hopes to reach out to others in similar situations.
I will say that i'm not a firm believer of god myself but she sure is and her faith has given her courage to fight so I can't argue with that. It's difficult for me to understand but I know It means a lot to her so I know she appreciates the thoughts and prayers.

I tried to come up with something of what i guess you could call a prayer, more of a song really.

Take the time of day and don't live too fast
Nothing ever stays the same and time will always pass
The things we make of wood and clay will bend and break and fade away
But there's something buried in our dreams that lets us know our souls will last
We may be right or may be wrong
We may not see from left or right
But either way it's safe to say we're meant to be here for today
And when we pass on through the vail existing time will surely fail
But time was meant to fade away like you and I and wood and clay
There's something more to this I feel
The certainty of what is real
Will certainly be more revealed
And we will meet again
Until that day
The fire still burns and lights the day
The wind still blows and sweeps away
The roots will still grow into trees
And waves will still evolve to seas
And if we look we just might see
The things in life that set us free

Either way it's safe to say we're meant to be here for today
