Wellness for Wilson

Hi there! My name is Wilson!

I am a happy go lucky puppy, just one year young! The world has so many interesting things in it! I live with my wonderful Mommy, Carly and Daddy, Ian. They love my big brother, Jackson and, me more than anything in the whole world.

My life as a furbaby is fantastic and I couldn't ask for a better family.

Over the past 2 months I’ve been feeling pretty crummy. I was hurting really bad, but couldn’t explain how to Mom and Dad. They knew something was wrong; I just wasn't acting right and have spent the last 4 weeks investigating my mysterious symptoms. I had to go see the vet many times, take a trip to the ER, and see surgical specialists. After first and second opinions we finally had some answers; Boy! they were scary enough to make me tuck my tail between my furry legs!

I have a big ol’ stick inside me! A long, sharp, foreign object, best described as a dowel or skewer entered my esophagus and didn’t stop there. 9 ½ inches long, it pierced my esophagus at the top of my sternum. It passed through the left side of my diaphragm, directly under my heart, into my abdomen, ending right under my right liver lobe. No wonder I don’t feel good!

The docs weren’t sure if I swallowed the stick, or ran into it with enough force to completely penetrate my body.

Regardless, it needs to come out.

I heard the vet tell Mom and Dad that this is an extremely complicated and invasive surgery that involves a lot of risk. I could die. They are worried about all the places the stick is sitting and the risk of bleeding to death. It will take wisdom and focus from the surgeon, team, family, and me too! My procedure starts Wednesday morning at 8am and we would appreciate as many good thoughts, prayers, vibes, and positivity in general during this difficult time. Tail wags, crossed paws, and lucky bones happily accepted too!

I know Mom and Dad will do anything to make sure we get through this together, but I can smell their fear. I don’t want them to worry more than they have to. I’ll be fighting as hard as I can to bounce back! My diagnostic tests so far have mounted to thousands of dollars. Where there’s a WIL(son) there’s a way, but gosh that’s a lot of money! Between my months of medical investigation, surgery, ICU recovery, and projected months of follow up antibiotics we’ve already totaled over $9,500.00 (assuming everything goes to plan.)

Mom and Dad are doing everything they can to make this possible, including spending the money they saved for their upcoming wedding. They say I’m what’s most important but sheesh!

That’s where I’m hoping you guys can help! My Mommy and Daddy work so hard to give Jackson and me everything we could ever need, but this was unexpected and so very expensive. No one can prepare for this kind of thing, and they aren’t quite sure what to do! Auntie Lindsay is helping me set up this fundraising page and any help and compassion to our situation is so appreciated. My heart is full just knowing you are reading this; that people are rooting for me.

While I have my surgeries, Auntie Lindsay will be updating this daily. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact her, My mom, Carly, or my Dad, Ian.

I wish I could love on you all, give you big wet doggy kisses, and wag my tail in appreciation. Every cent, well wish, and good thought counts. Thank you all so much!

All I want to do is play, so let's get the show on the road! Wellness for Wilson!
