Caring for the homeless

Tis the season for giving and this year I think it would be nice to help the homeless but unfortunately, as a lowly student I cannot afford to do it alone!
My family and I have decided not to exchange gifts this year but instead we would like to buy sleeping bags and packed lunches as Christmas gifts for the homeless.
I know there are charities out there that help but they don't reach everyone and this year we would like to do our bit, it would be great if you could give a monetary offering to help us acheive this goal no matter how large or small.
£10 sleeping bags are flimsy so I'm trying to avoid bottom of the range, but rest assured, should there be any funds remaining, this will be donated to a homeless charity.
