iPad for Kaleo
Hello, as many of you may know Kaleo was diagnosed with Autism on May 21,2012. He is pretty much non-verbal with a few real words sprinkled in. He receives several different therapies, which have helped him immensely. Kaleo uses an iPad at speech therapy and is able to communicate his wants and needs through several different apps. Being able to express himself this way helps eliminate the tantrums and meltdowns-which only seem to be get worse when he cannot explain himself. Kaleo is a very happy, funny child. He constantly surprises myself and his therapists with the things he does know. He is highly intelligent for a 2 and a half year old but his verbal limitations hinder him. I try my hardest to provide Kaleo with all he needs as far as his autism diagnosis. My days are spent driving him from speech to occupational to physical to ABA therapy. All which he gets several times a week. What keeps me going when it all seems too overwhelming is that I KNOW I have to do all I can so that he will be able to develop into a independent man in the future. So I push and fight for him in every way I can to help him achieve this, just as I do the same for my daughter, Leilani. However, I am fully and completely aware that this will be harder for him.
