Gift Cards for Unaccompanied Minors
The Oakland Education Association is adding a new tradition to our annual December Toy Drive. We are collecting money to buy gift cards for 200 OUSD students who are unaccompanied minors. These children fled the violence and corruption of their own country and arrived in the U. S. with virtually nothing.
While housing has been found for them, our students with this status often have to provide everything for themselves beyond basic food and shelter.
We want them to have a little more comfort and flexibility this holiday season and throughout the year. That is why we need your help to purchase gift cards that can be used to buy personal items that they need.
