Justine's Road To Independence

I was born with Spina Bifida. Spina Bifida is a developmental disability that affects the spinal cord and has prevented me from being able to walk. After being diagnosed with Spina Bifida doctors thought they knew what my life would be like. The doctors gave me 24 hours to live. Twenty-three years later I am still here and showing everyone that with determination anything is possible.

I would love to say that my life has been great and easy but it hasnt. Due to my mother having her issues i grew up with only my father. I have dealt with physicle and emotion abuse that has made me who I am today. Even though all I pain I have dealt with I know that there is always someone dealing with something much worst than me.

Dealing with Spina Bifida has left me to have daily aches and pains as well as other illnesses associated with it. A few being chiari malformation, scoliosis, depression and anxiety. I have had several surgeries and hospitalizations. None of which has stopped me from living life. Even though it takes a toll on me sometimes I still manage to push through and live life to the fullest.

I recently finished studying Medical Assistance. I am practicing driving with my dads car but it is not adapted to what i need. I am doing this fundraiser to raise the funds needed to purchase my own vehicle and hand controls. Getting my own car is important to me because it means I would no longer have to rely on others and can be the independent woman I have always wanted to be.
