Jolisa's Study Abroad in France

My name is Jolisa, and I am a 16 year old African American from Atlanta, GA. My 10th grade school year has recently ended, and when I return to school in September, it will be as student in France. I won’t be coming back home until May. While in France, I desire to capitalize on the once in a lifetime experience and tour the museums in the cities and the castles in the countrysides. I more than anything look forward to enjoying the country’s music and art and rich history as well as exploring its foods,cafes and libraries.
The language of French has always has held a special allure for me, from its beauty as it rolls off the tongue to its unifying power, as it is spoken on nearly every continent of the world. When I think about myself in relation to the language, I see no limits just as when I think of all I could accomplish, I see no limits. In considering the growth I will experience through such extensive exposure to another culture, I am nearly overcome with excitement.
Girls like myself from southwest Atlanta don’t generally get the chance to go France. This type of experience requires a monetary source that neither myself nor my parents can afford to supply ourselves. If you have the ability to support me by making whatever donation you can, I would greatly appreciate it. As a personal project, I will be documenting my journey abroad and any insights I acquire through a blog.
