iWish is a project that was established to help young girls choose careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

There is a skills shortage in this area. Of those filling the jobs, the majority are male. This skills gap is set to get bigger as the world focuses more on technology.

In Ireland, students chose their Leaving Certificate subjects in Transition Year. These subjects become the entry requirements for STEM college courses. In a bid to open up the world of STEM to girls, iWish was founded. It is an event the introduces Transition Year students to career options in STEM, companies operating in this field, female role models, and how to go about achieving these careers.

This year, the girls will gain hands on experience of crowd funding and wearable tech through this crowd funding campaign. It will allow them to see first-hand, how to fund raise for their business ideas, and introduce them to the cutting edge world of Wearable Technology and the Internet of Things.

The Ringly is where jewellery meets technology. It notifies you when you get calls, texts, emails, social media notifications etc., from the people you want. It vibrates and changes colour, depending on how you set it up. It is the next generation of Wearable Tech, and a relevant, exciting product for these students to learn about. www.iwish.ie

The funds raised will be used to purchase Ringlys as prizes for the Build A Business which will be run on the day of I Wish where girls will pitch their business ideas in an entrepreneurial showcase experience.
