R.I.P. SON Printing Cost

This painting literally received life under the streetlights at West Florissant and Canfield Dr. It was near midnight, a week after the streets had been live with chaos. It was eerily quiet. That's when the idea of the flag and the word "FEAR" came into play. It started as a tribute to the fathers of Mike and Trayvon, who both happened to be 6 ft + brothers, bald, bearded and an easy 200+ lbs like myself. Enemies by default. And that background demanded it's presence. Fast forward to the non indictment of Darren Wilson...



The shirt designs and words came Monday night and all day Tuesday as I stayed tuned into radio shows and watched livestream action of protests of the reactions to the grand jury's decision to not indict. I wondered while deciding what to put on their shirts "What was the real source of pain and anger?" Too many parents are BURYING THEIR CHILDREN (AND HUSBANDS)! Too many killings at the hands of law enforcement without ANY accountability. (Now Garner!!) And our young men and women, in the eye of this criminalized justice system, are of no more value than a paper gun-range target. 

With this campaign, I am going to publish and distribute these prints to as many folks as I can. Art is cool to share online, but you need to have art in your personal space that speaks to your heart and encourages you to be your best you and inspire you to want that for your neighbor as well. Some of these donation levels allow you to gift a print or two or three. They need to be everywhere. I am inspired to create Art that matters and put it in your home so you can stay inspired to do your part in bettering this world. Be encouraged. JUSTICE WILL WIN!
