Mariann's Medical Fund

We, as  friends of Mariann Rannenberg, age 53 years, from Fairmont, West Virginia, US, decided to try to get urgent help for Mariann through this fundraiser. Mariann desperately needs extra medical support in order to diminish the daily pain she has to endure for too long a time now.

Her first cancer in 1997 was Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  She went through therapy, and beat it.

She had a major stroke in 1998, it damaged the right side nerves. She went through physical therapy. In 2001, she had a small stroke again, in 2002 she had to undergo back surgery because of dislocated discs and herniated ones in the lumbar. It didn't go well. She was put on pain meds just enough to be able to continue.

Another severe heart attack followed in 2007.

She had a mass removed from her colon in 2008, as well as skin leisions, cancer cells, and a tumor on the heart.

Only 40% of her bone mass is left now because of all the chemo-therapy.

She takes meds for COPD, high blood pressure, heart arrhythmia, insomnia, and rheumatoid arthritis, two anti-pain pills called Norco, and 1 Methotrexate every day.  The costs of pain medication are over a 100 dollars a month and her insurance covers only 2 pills of Norco a day, that's it. But it's by far not enough to continue living with this chronic pain.

She has two herniated discs and two buldged ones in the lumbar part of the spine. Her tailbone has collapsed, trapping the nerves, causing intolerable pain in her legs. She has endured back pain for years now, but this recent pain in her legs is unbearable.
She still has to pay for several x-rays, costing $175,- each.

Her request to see a pain medicine specialist for chronic pain management was denied by her insurance company because of the high costs for consultation, epidurals, and other medication.

Mariann says: ‘I have been told to eat healthier but healthy food is expensive. I can afford only cheap pasta. Others have told me their story, and that is why I would like to go to a specialist in Pennsylvania. My state WV is the only state so far that makes it so hard for chronically ill patients to get proper pain management. At this point, I would go anywhere if I could afford it’.

Her son Ryan, suffering from ADHD and PTSD, means the world to her. He works for min. wages but always helps out. Takes her to appointments, does the laundry, and the shopping. The food pantry they went to is out for awhile. The food stamps were cut, from the low amount of disability-income she has to pay rent, which went up, utilities, co-payments on the meds and do some shopping; at the end, there’s nothing left. Ryan pays her cable/phone/internet bills, or she wouldn't have it. For somebody who worked all her life, this is a truly hard ordeal.

There is  more bad news, her mom’s cancer has spread. The mass in her right lung has doubled in size and it also has spread to her lymph nodes. She has been given 5 months to live, which is very upsetting

We all beg you to help Mariann out now, she's so grateful for any support, let's do this! Thank you so much!
