My Journey on and off the Track

" I want to continue to show others that a bend in the road is not the end of the road,"

My name is Chris Hacker. I am a 15 year old student from Noblesville, IN. and I want to change the world one lap at a time! My dream is to one day compete in NASCAR, the highest level of stock car racing in the world. I currently drive a CRA ( Champion Racing Association) Late Model race car. I started racing at age eight in Quarter Midgets and advanced through the rankings of Bandoleros and Legend cars  to the Late Models that I currently run.

I was born with a Brachial Plexus Injury to my left arm during birth. The Brachial Plexus is a network of nerves in the cervical spine that control the muscles that move the arm. After three major surgeries, I still don't have full range of motion in my arm. My left arm is smaller and much weaker than my right which forces me to basically drive using the strength of my right arm.
I don't think of my situation  as a disability, I think of it as an ability because it makes me work harder. I want people with disabilities to know that they can do anything they set their mind to.

To date, I've accomplished quite a bit, but I'm just getting started.

-2014 Sportsman of the Year award
-2013 Youngest driver (at age 13) in CRA history to ever win a feature event
-2013 Youngest driver in Anderson Speedway history to win a Late Model event
-2013  Rookie of the Year award in two different classes
-2012 Track Champion in INEX Legends
-2011 Track Champion in Bandoleros
-2010 & 2011 State Champion in Bandoleros
-2010 Awarded Driver Dedication award
-2009 Awarded Iron Man award

Last summer, I started a charity called  "24 Kids to Camp". Each year, the UBPN ( United Brachial Plexus Network) has a camp in Missouri  for people who suffer from brachial plexus injuries. I wanted to raise money for kids that might not be able to  afford to go to the camp. I made several appearances with my car and sold limited edition t-shirts for a $24 donation.  I was able to raise $2,224.00 which was enough to send 24 kids to the brachial plexus camp. The UBPN awarded me the Youth Determination Award. I was invited to come to the camp as a special guest. This would mean I would miss one of my races that would drop me down in points. I chose to go to the camp to meet others  that were going through what I go through every day. It was really cool to hear how some of the other guys put on deodorant the same way as I do! LOL!  I was a guest speaker and told my story.

I was also asked by a fan in 2013 to help bring awareness to Schizencephaly, which is a rare  birth defect that involves clefts  in the brain.  I made an appearance to their fundraising event to help bring awareness.   I love kids, even though I'm told I am still one myself. I really love my fans too! I remember one time, a little boy wanted to come watch me race at Anderson Speedway which is my home track. It was his birthday. I won the race that night and the little boy came in to the pits after the race to see me. I gave him my trophy.

I cannot race a full season this year since we have exhausted all of our funds. The next step towards my dream requires $20,000  to race in three races in 2015. Ultimately, we hope these races will help me gain additional sponsorship dollars, which will allow me to join a development team in the future.
If you are able, please help support my dream. I would love for you to come along for the ride!
