Helen Ward's Breast Cancer

Dear Friends

Many of you are aware that Helen Ward, is battling stage 2 agressive Ductal Breast Cancer. She has started the Chemotherapy. Her Oncologist has said that she has to do a total of eight chemo sessions. Helen has just completed her second chemo last Thursday and will continue this every two weeks. Upon completing chemo, she will have a breast surgery and then radiation.

Helen has been sick since early Spring. During last Summer, she made several trips to the ER and last August, Doctors found a tumor in her Uterus. Later that month, she had surgery to remove the tumor. After a few weeks of rest, her sisters and mom were all very excited for Helen to get back to her old self again. She was looking forward to going back to work. But, as weeks passed on, she was not getting better. She was still tired and was not able go to work.

Due to the type of work Helen does, Early Intervention, Childhood Special Education; which means she does home visits with young children. The Oncologist told her that she will not be able to work while she is going through Chemo due to her low immunity.

Since Helen has used up all her sick leave, vacation and family leave she now has was no leave left. Therefore she has no income coming in to pay her bills.

The family is very sadden by the situation Helen is having to face while battling Cancer. It has been very hard to come to terms for Helen that one moment she is earning an income and running a household and in a blink of an eye, everything has gone away.

She is very fortunate that she was able to apply for and receive the Obama Care.

We are fortunate to have friends and family support during this difficult time.
