Feed the Children on Facebook

WHY: To help feed hungry children on the Big Island, one keiki, one meal, one coversation at time.

Thank you to our 2013 donors!!! Sanctuary of Mana Kea Gardens, New Thought Center, Amy Greenwell Garden, Susun Gallery, Mon Ami Catering, Holistic Hawaii, PC911, Passion Moon Potions, Discovery Antiques, Kona Coast Wellness and Kona Coast Chiropractic. Also, Dr. Richard Bennett, Merry & Steve Lopez, Lori, Diane, Sharman, Raybo, Barrie, Bit and Bud.

OUR MISSION: NO CHILD SHOULD GROW UP HUNGRY.

At least one in five – some say it is one in four – children in Hawaii and the rest of the USA are struggling with hunger. Hungry children fear for their lives and cannot flourish. Bad nutrition deforms the brain. Good nutrition supports healthy children and a healthy society, which affects every one of us.

This Feed the Children campaign is ending childhood hunger on Hawai’i Island by connecting kids in need with nutritious food, helping them learn to grow, find and prepare healthy, affordable meals and offering yoga and art-skills training to feed their souls. We can help surround kids with healthy food and lifestyle skills so they can do what kids do naturally: play, learn and live up to their full potential.

Food is fuel. Without it, a child can’t live up to her full potential.

FEEL THE HEART, FREE THE MIND, FEED THE CHILDREN

YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS to Feed the Children Kona helped serve 900 meals to hungry, houseless keiki and families in our first year of service, plus 200 snacks and painting activities at the Avocado and Ka'u Festivals and the Honoka'a Edu-Camp. We also offered keiki yoga classes, song, dance & creative arts skills-building classes to help kids learn to “paint their own reality.”

Our GOOD LUCK Banner Painting Project is a mindful, sustainable effort to create beauty out of struggle, raise awareness, & reverse the negative effects of poverty on children through positive action. We are creating 100 GOOD LUCK Rainbow Banners to Banish Childhood Hunger. More than 20 are complete and so, so beautiful.

ENJOY WHAT YOU HAVE! GIVE WHAT YOU CAN, RECEIVE  WHAT YOU NEED,
