Dear Friends and Family,
I am embarking on a journey with an amazing organization called Hope worldwide. This November I will be traveling to the Phillipines to volunteer on a disaster response team, providing aid to victims on the recent typhoon.
HOPE worldwide has been involved in regionalized disaster response initiatives for over a decade, though the first large-scale response came in the aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. HOPE worldwide provided on-the-ground support in India, Thailand and Indonesia. Since that time, disaster response teams have assisted with a number of major natural catastrophes, including Hurricane Katrina, the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti, the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan and most recently Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
I am asking your help to raise funds to provide airfare, room and board during my time in the Phillipines. The total cost for my travel is $3000.00. Any funds raised in addition to this will go directly to Hope worldwide to assist in their worldwide disaster relief iniatives.
