Home for Russell and BabyGirl

Hello! My name is Christina however, this is not about me but, about one gentleman and a beautiful, fluffy fur baby named Baby Girl who both are facing a very hard moment in life. (Picture inserted for the cuteness)

Please take the time to read, share, and even help if you can. Everything done is thankful and a blessing.

Russell, is his name and by trade a long-haul truck driver. As a truck driver the long hauls can get lonely traveling from state to state. There is no one to talk to, no one to laugh at for being silly or anyone to express your troubles to.

3 years ago, Russell saw the cutest little dog that captured his heart during an adoption event at a PetSmart. He picked the name BabyGirl as she became his life, his child, his baby. For the last 3 years he and she have been road buddies, traveling all over the US. Stopping by home (Las Vegas) every now and then to spend quality time together. She became his companion during the long rides, his push to live a decent life because she was his responsibility, and his savior as his best friend when times were rough. Since Russell is on the road so much, he gave up his apartment in Las Vegas and decided to do the road full time with BabyGirl.

But sadly, the last few months Russell had not been feeling well. During a road trip to Jacksonville, Russell suffered a heart attack in which he was rushed to the ER. For the last few weeks Russell has been kept in the in the hospital as he had to have a quadruple bypass and one lung collapsed. (updated on 1/16/18 Russell is having some kidney issues that are now a concern for the Doctor)

Babygirl, thankfully, is in the care of Pet Rescue North (if you are unaware of this rescue, please take the time to research Mrs. Peggy and all she the wonderful work she does for the city of Jacksonville, and their people). BabyGirl is in foster care and receiving all the medical and daily care at no expense to Russell.
Russell is originally from Hawaii where the only family left is his sister. While Russell has no one here in Jacksonville he has decided that he will no longer be doing long hauls due to his health and has decided to hunker down in here with his fluffy dog.

The issue is, as he has no family and currently no income as he is in the hospital. He will have nowhere to go once released. Jacksonville does not have shelters that allow pets. He refuses to be without her once he is cleared to leave the hospital. This will leave him no choice but to live on the streets to prevent BabyGirl from being given to a shelter.

This is where the plea comes from. I know that everyone is tight these days on finances and we did just finish Christmas but, I am asking for help for Russell and BabyGirl. He needs to come up with enough money to rent an apartment that doesn’t cost much and will allow his dog. Doesn’t seem like a large goal but, for someone that has nothing now but a hospital bed, this is a HUGE hurdle.

Russell is not looking for any special, he is going to rent the most affordable and simplest place he can find. Truth is he won’t even have a bit of furniture and only the clothing he had in his truck to put in the apartment.

So, what I am asking is the money for a deposit, pet fee and first month rent. This will give him a chance to get back out to the working scene and living with his BabyGirl. At the moment he cannot be released from the hospital as the doctors have not cleared him. But when they do, we would love to have somewhere he can call home rather than walking out to fear of the unknown.

Anything to help would be ever so amazing. I know again, things are tight for many people these days and well, there are probably tons of other requests that would deem more urgent. But if you knew Russell, if you could see how even a simple update on BabyGirl, a visit from someone and even how a book brought to him lights up his face you would understand why I am writing this. He is such a gentle soul that did not plan for such an event. He thanks Pet Rescue North almost everyday for caring for BabyGirl and even has teared up knowing that he is in a position that he cannot help. From someone that has spent some time with him says “he is so appreciative of every act of kindness people have shown him and never asks for anything other than how BabyGirl is doing. He is interested in working in the hotel/motel hospitality service (which by the way might possibly afford him an opportunity to live where he works if the hotel or motel permits which would be ideal) and is eager to get a job and be able to provide for himself and his furbaby. He also wants to find ways to volunteer for Pet Rescue North to thank Ms. Peggy for caring for his BabyGirl while he is in the hospital and following rehab. Any contacts for this kind of employment when he is finally discharged would be greatly appreciated. He has fallen in love with the warmth and friendliness Jacksonville has shown him and knows the long-haul trucking career is no longer an option for him”

We all suffer from down times, where life throws more than we can handle, and we need help. Russell is at the point. He and BabyGirl are best friends, partners for 3 years and each other’s life. He needs just a small bit of help to get on his feet without losing his best friend.

I thank you for reading, sharing, and/or helping.
