HobbyAid for African Children fund
Donation protected
For as long as I can remember I have had a passion to help tackle the growing crisis facing children in Africa.
This is why I have worked so hard to qualify as a HIV/AIDS and sexual abuse counselor and as a sexual health and HIV awareness trainer.
This is why I have worked all of my life on sexual health and abuse projects.
This is why I have set up HobbyAid to encourage and inspire people to use their hobbies to help some of the 34 million orphaned children in Africa.
And this is why I need to travel to Africa to volunteer in an orphanage for children living with HIV/AIDS and visit other projects I want to support through HobbyAid.
Why £5000? I have set up HobbyAid with a goal to register as a UK charity and to achieve that goal I first need to raise £5000.
How will I use this money? Already lots of supporters are making clothes and toys but I need to ship them to various projects in Africa. I have some supporters who cannot afford the materials for the things they want to make. I want to set up HobbyAid meetings where supporters can come to learn how to sew, knit, crochet, bake etc.
I need to visit Africa to better understand first hand the reality of life for the children I want to help, to make sure the projects are legitimate and to get to know the children and support workers so that I can tell their stories on my web site and facebook page. I also want to help people by importing the products they make to sell in the UK and that way raise more funds and help them to become more self sufficient.
Ultimately I want to set up HobbyAid centres and be able to sponsor projects in Africa to make sure that these Children get the education they need to enable give them a chance to make a real difference.
I have some lofty goals and a lifetime mission - but it all starts here. Your contribution to my funding goal will help me to devote my life to making a difference to the lives of some of the most impoverished children on the planet.
Thank you for supporting me.
