Support my fight against Melanoma

As most of you know, I have been battling with Melanoma for the last 2 years now, which has slowly progressed its way to Stage IV terminal Cancer.  I have recently been given the bad news that the Clinical trial treatment I underwent for 6 months had little to no effect on the tumors they knew of at the start of the trial that were located in my liver, lungs and bones – they have all now increased in size (some doubled).   New tumors have also appeared, one in my brain and multiple small tumors in my intestine and bowel area, which they had planned to remove when they operated on me. Once they opened me up however, they found it to be an impossible task due to the amount of unforeseen potential problems as there were more tumors than expected.

The next available step of treatment is going to involve being admitted into hospital for a week at a time to receive bio-chemotherapy to try to slow down the progression of the tumors.  This is going to put additional stress and expense on my family – living in America the health premiums and medical costs are quite literally crippling and recent changes to the health care system means my current insurance is being cancelled and I am having to enroll in a new policy which is a lot more expensive.

I have been asked by many of my friends and supporters, many of which I have never had the pleasure of personally meeting, how they can donate to try to take the pressure off my family. Setting up this fund is the only way I can think to help my family and I pay for the upcoming medical costs and other costs associated with this new course of treatment.

I certainly am not expecting anything from anyone and do not want people to feel obliged or put themselves in a bad position by donating.  The support that my family and I have and are still receiving on a daily basis from everyone has been fantastic and is truly helping us stay positive and confident to beat this.
