HANs fundraiser for Philmore!

A little about Philmore:

On Feb 05, 2014, Philmore was roping at an event near Gallup, where he was heading a steer and his partner pushed the steer in his path & tripped his horse. His horse fell & Philmore slammed his head to the ground. Philmore was flown from Gallup to UNMH in Albuquerque due to the severity of his injury. He was in deep coma. At UNMH, the Neuro doctor diagnosed Philmore with Traumatic Brain Injury. The second day after his injury, the doctor suggested he be taken off life support, because he said Philmore had no brain activity and his body was rejecting the medication. He said Philmore would be in a vegetation state for the rest of his life and his care would be too severe. I begged for more time because I knew he was in there & could hear me. The doctor gave us two weeks and the following Tuesday, Philmore opened his eyes.

After six months in a coma, Philmore woke up on July 25, 2014 with 90% memory and he was able to go home with us, but required 24/7 care with a trache & Gtube. On Oct 21, 2014, the trache was removed after two surgeries and the Gtube was removed on Oct 28, 2014.
Philmore is now paralyzed on the right side of his body, but through our home therapy his leg is beginning to move.

From Waylon:

Philmore is a strong HAN, who's been through a lot these past few months and is getting stronger! I would like to help him, but I want the family and HANs members to know, I am not doing this because I feel sorry for him, I'm doing this to help him get back to being well. He has the fight to be strong and I want to contribute to his fight.

So on Sunday, November 23, I will host a birthday run to celebrate my life and also raise money to get Philmore a Nu-Step Machine for his exercise and recovery. These machines are pretty pricey, so I am asking for your help, HANs, to raise the money to purchase a Nu-Step Machine for Philmore.

We will meet at Kiwanis Park at 8am to run or walk a short distance.  If you are in another state, you can do a virtual run with us and post your pics, thoughts, and feelings the same morning you ran for Philmore.

You can donate whatever you want to contribute at the run/walk. And we also setup this gofundme campaign to help raise the money. As we move forward I will keep you posted on the progress of the funds. And after we run or walk, I will announce the amount we raised.
