The Pavo Quartet is beyond thrilled to be one of eight string quartets chosen from around the world to participate in the chamber music division of FEMUSC, which takes place in Santa Catarina, Brazil and is the largest classical music festival in South America. The Pavo Quartet will be studying with the renowned Arianna String Quartet at FEMUSC.
We need YOUR help to travel across the equator in January! Not only do we need four plane tickets for ourselves, but we also need a plane ticket for Liz's cello and help with housing for three weeks. This trip is a chance of a lifetime and we are hoping it will kickstart our dream careers as professional chamber musicians.
The Pavo Quartet formed in Chicago, Illinois in 2012 while its members, Jung Tsai (violin), Danielle Simandl (violin), Ashlyn Olson (viola), and Elisabeth Oar (cello) were attending the DePaul School of Music. In addition to prolific performances at DePaul, the Pavo Quartet has performed in several mini-tours of the Midwest. We were the Quartet-in-Residence at the 2014 U.P. Chamber Music Festival where we coached high school and middle school string chamber groups. We are very excited to return to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in February 2015, as we will be the Quartet-in Residence at this year's U.P. Chamber Music Festival and we will also join the Superior String Alliance Chamber Players for several performances up north.
Our primary aim is to collaborate together to present music of the highest caliber and to share our love of music with our audiences. We like to choose a wide variety of music, not only presenting works firmly engrained in the canon but striving to bring to our audiences repertoire not commonly played. We are preparing to participate in many prestigious chamber music competitions this year such as the Fischoff and Coleman Chamber Music Competitions.
Studying chamber music at FEMUSC in Brazil will help us as a budding professional string quartet in so many ways. Please consider donating to our fund to help us jumpstart our chamber music careers!
