Help Us Educate Children!

Donation protected
Hello everyone!

We are currently involved with a program known as Alternative Spring Break (ASB). ASB is a service learning initiative that takes place for one week in the middle of February 2015. In February, we will be travelling to El Chile, Nicaragua, to serve with the local community organization ANIDES. El Chile is a highly remote village (try finding it on a map!) where more than half of the citizens live below the poverty line. While there, our focus will be on increasing school facilities so that the children of El Chile are accessible to education. Specifically we will be assisting in the construction of a preschool, and the restoration of an existing primary school.

We take part in months of preparation, and are highly prepared to make a difference. Just because El Chile isn’t on the maps, doesn't mean they should be forgotten. Children are the leaders of the future, so allowing children to have access to education not only changes the children’s lives, but also for community. So please help us make a difference for the citizens of El Chile now and for their future.

Since we are near February, we also would greatly appreciate if you would share our story! It would be extremely helpful if we spread our message to as many people as we can.

So now that you know what we will be doing, meet the team!

Hi my name is Safa! I am a third year Science and Education student. This will be my first time volunteering internationally. Education means a lot to me, and so I greatly look forward to motivate and encourage the indigenous children of El Chile to pursue education. Thank you for your support!

Hello my name is Steph! I am a fourth year student currently doing a joint honors degree in Greek and Roman Studies and History. I am very excited for my Alternative Spring Break trip to El Chile, Nicaragua. I am hoping this trip will allow me to help out a community in need while giving them the opportunity to go to school and get a proper education. Thanks for the support! :)

Hello, my name is Amanda! I’m currently a second year Child Studies student who is also pursuing a minor in Sociology. This will also be my first time volunteering internationally and I look forward to learning all about the Nicaraguan culture and working with the people of El Chile. I’m super excited to help out and contribute in any way to a community in need and give the children of El Chile an opportunity to have a great education. Thanks for all the support <3 :)

Hi my name is Anna, I'm currently a second year Journalism student with wanderlust written on my heart. Although I have traveled to over 10 countries before, I have not done a trip like this before. I am so excited to finally give back to a community of good - hearted people in El Chile and take some of the lessons I learn there back to the people of North America. Ive had a dream to take a volunteer trip like this for years. I also hope to bring these stories to the international community by starting a travel log of our trip. Thank you for all the support!

"Hi my name is Taylor! I am a fourth year Psychology and Human Rights student with a minor in Law. I am extremely excited to travel to El Chile in February to work on projects surrounding education. I value education very much and believe it is a powerful tool for young people to have. I can't wait to get to El Chile and meet all the wonderful people we will be working with! Thank you for the support!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, we really do appreciate it. We are highly prepared to make a difference, and we hope you are too! Any contribution will be greatly appreciated!

Have a blessed day,
