Keeping the Legacy Alive

Can you help us keep the Captain’s Sweet Galley sailing?

For more than four years we have grown The Sweet Galley from a humble cake take-out counter to a bustling dining place. The Captain’s Sweet Galley has been and always will be a place where people can share sweet, happy, fun moments. A place where some people feel that it is a piece of home or a piece of heaven, their comfort nook so to speak.

But now, we are facing the possibility of closing. The very building at which it stands is within the area that will be affected by the Government’s road widening project. We know this development is for the greater progress of the city and it will pave the way for further growth. However, given the “‘just-recovering” state of the shop’s finances, it is not ready for this kind of situation where we had to choose between closing or relocating. We cannot easily relocate as we have yet to recover from our previous concerns. We cannot close because families of our employees depend on the Sweet Galley.  Their employment and the very source of their families’ living support depend on the shop being kept open. We have to find a way to keep going.

The Captain’s Sweet Galley have steadily sailed on and grown its menu and client base for quite a while. Safe to say that for a time, we were comfortable in our operations.  Whatever amount we made, we made sure to use for the development of the service, the shop and ensuring that our clients are happy. However, due to medical concerns that family members had to go through, the shop’s funds were used and left the shop struggling in the operations. We did everything we can to keep it going and it was third quarter of 2017 that we have slowly become hopeful that we would be back on track come January 2018. But at the last quarter of 2017, we learned of the widening project.

We started the shop anchored by the principles of our father. The Captain. It was in his honor that we pursued the existence of the shop. To help people in ways that can make a difference in their lives no matter the size or weight of assistance. We wish to continue providing a place for people to be happy. A place for people to belong to. A place for people to be able to support others and make others happy as well. But we can no longer fund a relocation by ourselves.

Over the years, we lost some, we gained some… and then lost again.  But the shop’s following and people who are our regulars keep us going. We have no other source of finance. We do not know where we can get the fund. All we know is that we have a community that depends on us continuing on. And so we ask for the community to help us this time too. Help us accumulate the fund that will enable us to even just move and allow us to realize the plans we have laid out for the Sweet Galley and we will make sure that it revolves to sustain the shop for more years to come.

The captain's sweet galley has plans that ensure the support for children’s education and youth-skills training. You can help us make these plans happen.

We cannot deny the threat of the times but we also cannot allow ourselves not to fight for the Galley. The Sweet Galley is where we are able to give back to the community. Believing that our strength comes from the community, we know we will be kept more than just afloat but sailing on through higher knots and over stronger waves.

You can help us continue to make more people happy. You can help us continue to be a place for people to belong to. You can help us continue to make a difference in the lives of others. You can help us.

Update March 18, 2018:

Thank you so much for all the support! We are able to reserve the new location of Captain's Sweet Galley.

The journey continues... let's keep sailing together! thank you thank you!

With this, it isn't anywhere near being done yet. There are still waves to overcome. Funds generated from GoFundMe as well as the offline raised funds directly at the shop and the Sweet Galley Shirt Campaign are still on.

We have so much projects planned and we pray to make them come true sooner, given the circumstance. Thank you for your time and effort to help us through this phase of the Sweet Galley.

The road widening is now 190 meters from our location. When we originally posted the first picture, it was still 534 meters.
