Animal rescuer needs help to keep dogs

Donation protected

I have been rescuing dogs and occasionally other critters in need for over 15 years now, relying mostly on myself and my personal funds to care for the animals I take in. I specialize in rescuing bully breeds and am kept busy with a never ending need for help for misunderstood and frequently mistreated pit bulls and other related breeds. Many of the dogs I take in have special medical and/or behavioral needs and are overlooked and turned down by other rescuers as being "too difficult to deal with or beyond help", I refuse to give up on those dogs who need us to most. I currently have 4 dogs in my care and others in foster homes in the Las Vegas area, the 4 dogs in my care are basically mine at this point since their "special needs" have prevented them from being adopted-their care is extensive and often very costly, but I've sacrificed to give them all what they need. I'm also a single mother of an amazing 3 year old boy who is currently residing in Washington with his grandmother (on his daddy's side), my son is thriving in WA and is much happier there then in Las Vegas. For the last couple months I have been planning a permanent move from Vegas to Washington, which I feel is a much better place to raise my child and a better environment for my dogs and me as well. Many of you know the story of my dog Moxy who was brutally beaten by a former, vengeful roommate of mine-this person was never arrested do to fact that my dogs were the only witnesses to the crime (she broke into my home while I was at work), since then I've received regular threatening phone calls that have been reported to police- they haven't done anything. There's no way under these circumstances that I will bring my son back to Vegas and need to get my dogs and myself out as well. Moxy's vet bills totaled over $20,000 and despite the immense help I got from the community by posting a "gofundme.com" fundraiser for her and her pet insurance picking up a large chunk of the bill, I got into further debt saving her life and continue to do so since her ongoing care is costly. However, until last week I thought I had things figured out since my mom and step-dad had offered to help me get moved to Washington by paying for my moving costs and "move in costs" on a rental house that will allow me to have my dogs. My move out date at my current place is July 1st and everything was finally falling into place...until last Sunday. My parents called me and informed me that there was now "stipulations" to me receiving financial help from them, prior to this my parents knew my plans and were offering to support me "as is". The first stipulation and the one that ended our conversation and likely relationship, is my parents demanded I get rid of (they don't care how) of 3 of my 4 special needs pit bulls!!! The only one I'm allowed to keep is Moxy and as my mom put it it's because she won't be around much longer! As anyone in the rescue community or anyone that cares about animal welfare knows, 3 weeks to properly place 3 special needs pit bulls is an impossible task...plus, I'm just not getting rid of my dogs (one of them, Calypso, will be available for adoption in about a month after she has healed from a surgery to repair growth deformities in her front legs, however do to her special needs she will likely take a long time to find the perfect home for, so until then she's mine). I pleaded with my parents, tried to explain that they're literally asking me to kill my dogs (I would sooner have them euthanized then dump them at a kill shelter- neither of which is an option for me!!!), I asked why they told me they would help making me "back off" my efforts to come up with the funds myself (which I was struggling with, but at least trying)- they didn't care one bit about the fate of my dogs and admitted they set the situation up this way so I'd be stuck with no way out but to do what they want of me. Their plan failed, I will not abandon or euthanize my dogs, it goes against everything I believe in, stand for, and fight for- doing so would be the end of my mental stability too, I could never look at myself again without feeling disgust and shame. So this is why I've created this fundraiser, I need help getting my dogs and myself to Washington to reunite with my young son and start a better life and more promising future for us. All donated funds will go towards moving costs, move in costs, and towards the care of my dogs while I figure things out (I may have to leave everyone but Moxy with friends for couple weeks to a month while I get us a place in WA), the faster I can come up with the funds the sooner all our lives can start improving and we can all be safe and happy. I will be keeping careful records of where funds are going to and posting regular updates with said records to ensure everyone knows where their money is going to. Any help is appreciated and if you can't donate please help by spreading the word to anyone you think may be able to help us. Thank you!
