"For years Lisa has tirelessly worked to assist others to lead healthy, passionate lives. As a massage therapist and energy worker, her gentle hands and compassionate heart blended together to transform the lives of many who were seeking relief from the stresses of today's world. Wanting to make a difference in many more lives, Lisa wrote a ground-breaking book (Beyond Techniques) empowering others to tap into the unlimited, expansive energy that lies within them. Now the loving spirit who so freely gave to others and helped them along their journey, needs help.
It began with a diagnosis of uterine cancer in June. While this devastating news settled, plans were made for the necessary operation followed by chemotherapy to handle any residual, lingering cancer cells. All of this would entail a hiatus from work and a loss of income for a number of months. As challenging as this was, Lisa braced herself for the challenge and kept a positive, uplifting attitude. Then the unexpected happened.
During the operation, complications developed resulting in the premature ending to the surgical procedure and Lisa receiving more than 40 units of blood. The surgery needed to be completed, though, so Lisa found herself on the operating table a few days later. What she thought was going to be a routine surgery with a short hospital stay ended up being a 12-day touch-and-go hospital experience. But Lisa is a survivor! She is back home now recovering from the ordeal.
Although she remains in good spirits her physical challenges continue. With six rounds of chemotherapy ahead of her, each 21 days apart, most likely she will not be able to resume full-time employment until some time in 2014. Like most massage therapists, Lisa works on commission with no sick benefits and when she cannot work she has no income. And the bills have already started to come in.
Prayers are needed, and we know that prayers have helped her immensely through this past agonizing month. But money is needed as well. Any contribution you can make will help tremendously to ease her financial burden and allow her to focus on a full recovery from this present Olympic-size challenge.
