Sharing Our Plan! Help Us Help You!!
Help us “take the lid off” of The Art of Mentoring: Connection is Good for Everyone! We are seeking to raise $80,000 to help regional Village Building affiliates become licensed to offer The Art of Mentoring in their own communities.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this effort over the past couple of years. We GREATLY appreciate all the support you have generated! So far we have raised over $21,000 through this GoFundMe site that has helped us build our media and online learning efforts.
Our next goal is to raise another $79,000 to reach our goal of $100,000 during this next year. This will help us to launch new community initiatives and help build capacity for nature connection mentoring with existing 8 Shields affiliate communities in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Australasia.
Connection, in all its forms, is good for everyone. We are biologically wired for connection. Whether connecting with people, ourselves, or the life and elements of the natural world-- connection brings us a healthier and more optimized state of being. We have learned from experience that nature connection is the super-vitamin that provides the best foundation for all other forms of connection. Nature connection heals when there’s a deficit, and nature connection optimizes when people have more of a connective foundation.
There are 8 attributes that indicate connection: happiness, vitality, deep listening, empathy, initiative, love for life, compassion and the quiet mind. When these 8 attributes are fully active in an individual, we call this “deep nature connection”. The power of deep nature connection, as facilitated by the 8 Shields model, fully optimizes the human operating system; resulting in truly creative and powerful people. Most importantly, nature connected people take initiative to help other people and the natural world. This is true responsible environmental behavior.
The human “operating system” is built upon the hardware of our ancient neurological history of living close to nature. Running the right processes for our “hardware” will result in fast and efficient nature connection. This is what Jon Young and 8 Shields have developed directly through research and testing for over 30 years; and through the thousands of people served by our worldwide network. In 1995 Jon Young created The Art of Mentoring to share this important and powerful social technology with community leaders. There are now hundreds of community leaders trained in various components of the 8 Shields model; tens of thousands of people are benefiting from this effort.
We are asking for your help in uniting the leadership of the 8 Shields movement, building capacity and starting new Art of Mentoring initiatives. Through an extended licensing network we will ensure that the 8 Shields Art of Mentoring model is consistent and supported for the best service to both practitioners and communities served. We call this training and licensing process the 8 Shields Village Building Pathway.
You can help sponsor your local (or any) Village Building licensee by donating now. Your donation will be reciprocated with an online-downloadable product that will help orient you further in a variety of topics related to Village Building for nature connection. You can also help build your community’s (or any) Art of Mentoring Village by becoming trained and certified in a suite of skills required to hold the Art of Mentoring at full capacity (see our training page option for what you can do).
