I've started this campaign in order to help my mother, who was diagnosed with Lyme Disease about 4 years ago. I realized after 4 years of not being able to help -- this was how I was going to do something for her.
She had a very lucky diagnosis - as lucky as you can, I suppose. Her doctor believes she was actually bit twice about 6 months apart, first in California on a trail and then second up in New Hampshire on a hiking trip. She was a very active woman, and the first signs of her illness was that she noticed her right shoulder was injured and inflamed. If it were not for that shoulder injury, it may have taken even longer for her to be diagnosed. Some people go years without understanding their diagnosis, and this is why I say she's lucky.
Our family doctor just so happens to be one of the leading Lyme doctors in the town I grew up. So after my mom complained of her symptoms, our family doctor suggested they test for Lyme. And in August 2011 she found out the test was right, and she did have Chronic Lyme Disease.
Since that day up until now It's been a very hard journey for her. She's been going through treatments, antibiotics, western medicine, acupuncture and other eastern medicines, rife treatments, and physical therapy. She's on a strict diet that cuts out all the good things in life: dairy, gluten, sugar, egg and many other foods that normal people can eat without thinking twice.
Her C4A Lyme toxicity levels are higher now than when she first was diagnosed, which is obviously devastating after doing therapies for four years. What I'm hoping to accomplish by this Go Fund Me page is to give her more support and give her the money to be able to travel to other doctors to get additional treatments.
I'm looking into getting her to see other Lyme specialists so that she can get more information on her therapies and why they aren't working and her health hasn't improved in the past four years. Your donation will go to pay doctor's visits, her expensive medications and other therapies. Insurance DOES NOT help when it comes to Lyme and various therapies and drugs can cost thousands of dollars.
I'm getting married in two months and want nothing more than my mother to have HOPE. I know there isn't a cure right now, and I know she needs time for her body to fight this and heal, but right now she needs the HOPE of humanity and the money to find other treatments that will make her feel better.
