Help Justin Breathe

Donation protected
Justin Norenberg of Mosinee is a 28-year-old husband and stepfather who loves his family and to hunt and fish. He was born with a life-threatening disease called Cystic Fibrosis (CF). CF causes persistent lung infections and progressively limits Justin’s ability to breathe.

Justin is my wife's nephew and I am posting the GoFundMe page on his behalf.

Justin's life consists of 35 different pills and breathing treatments daily, airway clearance exercises, frequent IV treatments and hospitalizations. There is no cure to date for this disease. Justin’s health has deteriorated until his only hope is for a complete lung transplant.

Justin has been approved by the University of Wisconsin Madison for a double lung transplant. They are the best at it and have many successful recipients that are still living. The call to Justin to come to Madison immediately could happen at any time. Expenses for the operation and post-operation include:

medical co-payments,
anti-rejection drugs,
lodging expenses for a month in Madison immediately following surgery
living expenses for the family for up to six months

Needless to say, the financial aspect of this is well beyond the ability of a young starting family. While parents of both Justin and his wife Crystal are committed to helping in any way they can, projected medical and living expenses will likely exceed $20,000 for the six months following the operation.

The potential for extended medical issues from the transplant, or the rejection of the lungs, creates an unimaginable future financial liability that is mind-numbing. Justin and Crystal never waver in their love for each other, nor their commitment to this course of action because the alternative is for Justin to die.

Because Justin's illness has created substantial medical expenses from weeklong stays in hospital every 60 days this past year, there are no reserves to support them.

Justin and Crystal have the support of their employers and are guaranteed employment when they are able to return to work. He is employed as a welder at Greenheck Fan and Ventilation. Crystal is a CNA at a local nursing home.

It is hard for Justin to speak of his illness. Until this effort, only a handful of friends even knew he had CF. He now realizes he must seek help from others to fight this disease so he can continue to live for Crystal and his stepson, Ben.

Crystal wrote a Thank You expressing their gratitude for your contribution:

“Justin and I are in awe of the giving spirit of people like you who contribute so much to our funding efforts. A simple Thank You hardly seems enough, but we do sincerely thank you for your help. All donations are appreciated, and we understand that Gifts of Love such as yours are from your heart. May God bless you and your family for your support.”
