Help our cat, Oxford!

Donation protected
Hello my name is Oxford! I'm a six year old Scottish Fold cat who loves to sleep, eat, use my scratching post, and cuddle. I'm the sweetest, most affectionate cat you could ever meet, and I'm usually just a bundle of happiness. I'm also suffering from severe stomatitis, which is a disease that affects my gums and teeth. I'm in a lot of pain right now and I'm struggling to eat, so it's vital that this be resolved medically as soon as possible.

The solution is dental surgery to remove my remaining teeth. I'm already missing many of them from my time as a stray and from a previous surgery that my humans took me in for, but they're going to have to finish the job. It's extreme, but with stomatitis as severe as mine it's the only option. It should get rid of the pain, swelling, and infections, and I'll be able to eat again comfortably after its all healed up (don't worry, cats without teeth can generally eat their dry food just fine... which is good because I adore food).

Unfortunately my humans are having a lot of financial trouble right now. This hit at a very bad time for them. One of them missed most of work last month due to her own medical emergency, and we're struggling hugely as is to pay the basic bills. These are unusual circumstances for them and usually they can afford to take care of me, but right now they can't. They have attempted to procure a credit line, but to no success. It's super important that I get this surgery ASAP, and it's becoming more and more difficult for me to wait on it as my mouth gets sorer.

I am a rescue cat who has been through a lot. I was a stray who was taken into a kill shelter and almost put down before a local no kill came in and saved me at the last minute. I have FIV, which is a disease that makes my immune system a little bit more susceptible to illness. I am a healthy cat though (outside my teeth)! FIV cats can and will live normal, happy, long lives as long as their health is watched over and they are kept inside (and my humans do both of these things). Unfortunately one thing that FIV cats are oddly susceptible to is teeth problems, and that's definitely happened to me, despite the fact that my humans take every precaution to keep my teeth clean. Each day my teeth are hurting worse and worse and the need for surgery becomes more imperative, so please consider donating what you can to help my humans get me the veterinary care I need.

We have set the goal at 1,500, which is a couple of hundred over what the vet estimated for us. This was done as a safety net because surgeries often end up costing more than the estimate and to cover follow-up care. If we do have money left over/we earn more than our goal it will be donated to the local no kill animal shelter that we adopted Oxford from (and that saved his life!).

Thank you so much for your help!
