Ketsy (Mimi) lives in Allentown pa . In November 2016 while in a conference meeting my mom pass out she was taking by ambulance to the hospital well she was admitted for 4 days , she was refer to fox chase cancer center in Philadelphia but she received on December the bad news of a malignant tumor on both her ovaries She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer As a young woman this is not a very common case of cancer . I got diagnosed with stage 2b ovarian cancer which it was spreading to my other organs my pelvis my bladder my colon and my rectum
And also it was spreading on my stomach lining as well on the back of my stomach .She was so scared and didn’t know what to do or to tell her family since she has gone through much with my grandpa having lymphoma cancer and my uncle had colon cancer She was offered another option of removing the tumor and receiving chemo and radiation treatments. She opted to have the surgery to remove the cancer because she thought it was a better option. But they told her she couldn't get surgery of yet because the tumor was big and she will need to get ongoing chemotherapy first She could continue to live her life as she knew it.
She is going through a 8 month of chemo and she denied getting radiation because the experience she endure with my grandpa and uncle she will get a surgery After chemo .after a couple after a couple. Of chemo , my mom had an internal hemorrhage and had to get a blood transfusion. And on top she has to get iron transfusion a lot which are not fun at all Her physician had to cauterize or burn the wound five times to get it to stop bleeding. My mom has so many scare in her body that at times is very depressing for her and The pain that she has gone through is indescribable. I am so proud of my mom cause she continues to fight and doesn't give up even when she is in her worst .After a 8 month of this fight, she had a pt scan and it showed the cancer is still there one of the tumor did shrink but the other tumor still at large . And she had a bad bacteria infection in her stomach that has delay her surgery She is back at square one. The tumor can not be removed as of yet . The oophorectomy surgery and another couple chemo is the only option to save her life. She doesn’t have much time to waste but the operation at the hospital and chemo treatments and her medications are very expensive, estimated at upwards of 100,000 here insurance only give 70% that will cover her surgery and some of her treatment . There are no benefits that she can take advantage of. She is on her own. The road ahead has many uncertainties but one thing we know is that friends don’t let friends fight cancer alone.
