As some of you may know, God has recently challenged my mom with a new battle - breast cancer. Asking for help is something that is never easy, but with bills already piling up, it is something that we have discovered is necessary.
After discovering a lump, my mom went for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound on June 7, 2018. On June 11, 2018 she had an appointment with her surgeon where it was decided that immediate action was necessary in the form of surgery.
On June 13, 2018, a lumpectomy was performed and sent off for testing. The results came back and she was officially diagnosed with triple negative, stage 2 Ductal Carcinoma and Paget's disease. In other words, a very invasive and aggressive form of breast cancer.
Our family sat down with the options given and it was decided that chemo therapy was needed to fight this cancer, and that it needed to start immediately.
July 6, 2018, she had her first chemo therapy treatment, and with just one treatment she started to lose her hair. She has 4 treatments scheduled every other week and has already undergone 2 of these, with another scheduled for this Friday. After this is complete, she will have to go for weekly treatment for 12 weeks.
After she finishes chemotherapy, she will have a double mastectomy and lymph node removal, which will require 3 surgeries to complete.
Unfortunately, treatment is not cheap, and chemotherapy has already affected her ability to work as she once did.
My mom is a loving mother to her 5 children and "Grammy" to her 12 grandchildren, and is the most giving person I've met. She would never ask for this on her own, so I am here to do it for her.
Any thoughts, prayers, well wishes, and monetary donations are appreciated more than you can imagine as my mom kicks cancer in the rear end.
